1 Displaced In Elgin Apartment Fire

ELGIN, IL – One person was displaced following a blaze at an apartment building in Elgin Monday afternoon, authorities said. Fire crews were called to the apartment complex in the 200 block of Center Street at 2:21 p.m. for a reported fire in a kitchen. Upon arrival, firefighters found light smoke coming from the second floor of the apartment building, according to a news release from the Elgin Fire Department.

There was no one inside the apartment at the time of the blaze and the fire did not spread to any other units, fire officials said. The apartment building has a total of 16 units.

The one resident who lived in the affected unit has been displaced. That resident is now staying with family, according to a news release.

No one was injured and no one else was displaced, police said.
