1 Family Displaced Following Garage Fire
The blaze broke out Friday night at a townhome building in Elgin.

ELGIN, IL – One family is homeless after a fire broke out in a garage at a townhome building in Elgin Friday night, fire officials said. The Elgin Fire Department was called to the townhome in the 700 block of Millcreek Circle in Elgin at 7:26 p.m. When fire crews arrived at the scene they found flames and smoke coming from an attached two-car garage in the middle of the four-unit townhome building, according to a news release from the Elgin Fire Department.
The homeowner told fire officials everyone was safely out of the residence. Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes.
No one was injured in the blaze. One family was displaced due to smoke and fire damage.
