12 Arrested For Drug, Firearms Trafficking In Elgin

The Elgin Police Department launched the probe late last year.

ELGIN, IL – Authorities arrested 12 people in recent weeks following an investigation into mid-level drug and firearms trafficking that had been occurring in the city, police said Tuesday. The Elgin Police Department's special investigations division launched the investigation in late 2017. Since then, numerous transactions for cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and firearms were investigated, according to a post on the Elgin Police Department's Facebook page.

Officers with the Elgin Police Department’s Special Investigations Division, assisted by the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation and Aurora Police Department, have arrested 12 suspects and multiple felony offenses have been filed against them.

  • Jose Acosta, 24, of the 7000 block of Lowell Drive in Carpentersville. He has been charged with unlawful delivery of controlled substance - cocaine.
  • Rhandyl Morris, 25, of the 1700 block of Naperville. He has been charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance - cocaine and methamphetamine.
  • Lonnie Trent, 19, of the 500 block of Belmont Drive in Romeoville. He was charged with unlawful delivery of a firearm.
  • Ismael Gutierrez, 18, of the 700 block of Bode Road in Elgin. He has been charged with unlawful delivery of controlled substance - cocaine.


  • Crystal Harp, 34, of the 4000 block of High Point Court in Elgin. Harp is charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance - cocaine.
  • Bryant Torres, 26, 400 block of Gifford Street in Elgin. He is charged with unlawful delivery of controlled substance - cocaine.
  • Julio Jaimes, 25, of the 1200 block of Fairwood Court in Elgin. He has been charged with unlawful delivery of controlled substance - methamphetamine.
  • Devyn Dodd, 23, of the 200 block of Chaparral Circle. He has been charged with unlawful delivery of controlled substance - cocaine.
  • Rogelio Salgado, 24, of the 800 block of Bode Road in Elgin. He has been charged with unlawful possession of controlled substance - heroin.
  • Jonathan Perez, 23, of the 200 block of Villa. He has been charged with unlawful delivery of controlled substance - heroin/fentanyl.
  • Roberto Salgado, 22 of the 800 block of Bode Road in Elgin. He has been charged with unlawful delivery of controlled substance - heroin/fentanyl

  • Rene Espino, 24, of the 200 block of Jackson Street in Elgin. He has been charged with unlawful delivery controlled subject - heroin/fentanyl.

“Opiate addiction is a serious threat to our community,” said Interim Chief Bill Wolf. “We want people to know we have resources available to help those addicted, but we will also seek strong legal consequences for those who choose to illegally deal drugs and weapons in Elgin.”

The Elgin Police Department is reminding residents that they can provide anonymous tips or information via the Drug Unit Tip Line at 847-695-4195, the city of Elgin’s website, or by texting 847411, and including ELGINPD in the beginning of the text along with the message and/or tip information.
