17 Cited, Arrested During Roadside Safety Checks

The roadside safety checks were held last weekend in Elgin.

From the Illinois State Police: Illinois State Police (ISP) District 02 Commander Michael J. Kraft announces the results of a Roadside Safety Check (RSC) held in Kane County from late night April 27, 2018, to early morning April 28, 2018. The RSC was conducted at Illinois Route 31 south of Middle Road in Elgin by District 02 officers.

  • Other Alcohol/Drug Citations - 4
  • Registration Offenses - 2
  • Driver’s License Offenses - 8
  • Insurance Violations - 4
  • Total Citations/Arrests - 17
  • Total Written Warnings - 5

Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle
crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to
alcohol-impaired driving. RSCs are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous
DUI offenders off the road. This project was funded through the Illinois Department of
Transportation.
