ELGIN, IL – Two residences in Elgin have been deemed uninhabitable following a fire Saturday morning in the 300 block of Campus Drive. The Elgin Fire Department was called to the one-story duplex at about 7 a.m. where they found the entire back of two homes on fire, according to a news release from the fire department. Those living in both homes were able to get out before the fire department arrived.
The fire was brought under control in about 20 minutes.
No one was injured and the blaze caused about $100,000 in damage. Both homes have been deemed uninhabitable.

Authorities say the fire appears to be accidental but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
