2 Men Face Attempted Murder Charges After Elgin Shooting

ELGIN, IL — Two men, a 25-year-old from Chicago and a 29-year-old from Elgin, are facing charges of attempted first-degree murder after a shooting in Elgin on Thursday, the Kane County State’s Attorney's Office said Monday.

In the late morning Thursday, a resident saw two people take property from his home in the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive. He confronted the two men, who then shot him in the chest, according to State's Attorney Jamie Mosser. The offenders then fled, officials said.

Officials have identified the men as Damarques Enochs, of the 2900 block of West Flournoy Avenue in Chicago, and Taviris Paul, of the 400 block of Sherman Avenue in Elgin.

The state's attorney charged both with three Class X felonies: attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm and armed robbery with a firearm.

Enochs and Paul appeared in bond court, where their separate bail was set for $750,000, with 10 percent to apply, officials said. Both men remain in custody at the Kane County jail until their next court date, set for 9 a.m. Wednesday in Courtroom 305 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
