2 Killed In Elgin Shooting Identified: UPDATE

Two persons of interest are being questioned Monday by detectives with the Elgin Police Department.

ELGIN, IL – Authorities have identified both victims killed in a shooting Sunday afternoon in Elgin. Mark McDaniel, 26, of the 1000 block of Todd Farm in Elgin, and Raymond Dyson, 29, of the 0 to 100 block of Dumberton Oaks Place in Elgin, were both taken to suburban hospitals after being struck by gun fire in an apartment parking lot on Longwood Place, according to a post on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page. McDaniel died at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and Dyson died at Good Samaritan Hospital in the hours following the shooting. Meanwhile, the Elgin Police Department's Major Investigation Division have developed two persons of interest who remain with detectives Monday.

“Detectives are working diligently on this case, compiling statements and evidence,” said Elgin Police Department Deputy Bill Chief Wolf.

The shooting occurred in the 0 to 100 block of Longwood Place at about 2:08 p.m. on Sunday. Dyson and McDaniel were in close proximity to the shooters in the apartment parking lot when the shooting occurred, Wolf said.

The incident, which is being investigated as a homicide, remains under investigation, authorities said.
