4 Duped, Robbed After Using Dating App: Elgin Police

Elgin police say two more men were robbed Wednesday night after setting up a meet up through a dating app.

ELGIN, IL — Two more men who were planning to go on a date after arranging a meetup through the "MeetMe" app ended up being robbed Wednesday night in Elgin instead, authorities said. The Elgin Police Department reported both incidents occurred after the men arranged to meet a woman they met online, according to a Elgin Police Department Facebook post. The two new cases comes after police received two similar reports over the past week.

In one of the instances, a person was taken against their will to cash stations in an effort to have the individual withdraw money from their account.

"Fortunately, none of the victims suffered serious injuries," police said.
