Abbott teachers give more than grades, they lend a helping hand

Local U-46 teachers serve students and families on McTeacher's Night to raise money for the Eighth - Grade End of Year Dance.

Elgin |Abbott Middle School teachers, parents, students, and friends gathered at the McDonald’s located at 1480 Larkin Avenue, on Tuesday, October 23rd. The golden arches where shining bright under the night’s full moon and this successful event had everyone howling with excitement. This event offers community members a win-win situation whereby dining in the restaurant, a portion of proceeds would be donated to the school

Teachers from Abbott MS in School District U-46 volunteered behind the counter where they served students and their families in a fundraiser.

Jill Niendorf and Cody Beck did an outstanding job selling pies to customers throughout the night. The proceeds from the pies, which were donated by David Bear, went directly to benefit the students. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were also donated to Abbott MS, which plans to use the money to help pay for the eight-grade end of year dance.
