An Elgin man has died from injuries he suffered in a July 4 fireworks accident in eastern Wisconsin.
Tommy Wood, 21, died on July 11 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee after the accident in an outdoor area near Plymouth, which is about 15 miles west of Sheboygan, according to the Daily Herald.
Wood is being remembered as a beloved son, brother and friend whose kindness and warmth left a lasting impact on those who knew him, according to an online fundraiser created to support Wood's family.
"Tommy touched countless lives with his kindness and warmth, always bringing joy to those around him," organizers for the fund-raiser said. "His presence was a source of comfort and happiness, and his loss has left a deep ache in the hearts of his family and all who cared for him."
Organizers say the fundraiser will help cover funeral expenses and medical bills following his death, while easing the financial burden on his mother, sisters and other loved ones. As of Monday morning, the GoFundMe has brought in more than $56,000.
