Man Used Knife, Dumbbell To Kill Ex: Prosecutors

ELGIN, IL — A Kane County man has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 52-year-old Elgin woman who was found dead in her home Sunday morning, authorities said.

Christian B. Flores is charged with first-degree murder, a Class M felony, in the death of Charity Geisel, according to Kane County State's Attorney Jamie L. Mosser and Elgin Police Chief Ana Lalley.

Flores, who was Geisel's former boyfriend, is accused of using a knife and dumbbell with the intent to cause great bodily harm or death, ultimately resulting in Geisel's death, prosecutors said.

An investigation by the Elgin Police Department led authorities to Flores in Indiana, where he was arrested Sunday evening. He is being held in Indiana pending extradition to Illinois.

The Kane County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on Monday. Preliminary findings indicate Geisel died from blunt- and sharp-force injuries caused by an assault, according to the coroner's office.

I also wish to extend my gratitude to the members of the Chesterton Police Department in Indiana who assisted us in this investigation."
