Aron Ryan, Elgin’s New Poet Laureate

The Elgin Poet Laureate Project Selection Committee, in partnership with the Gail Borden Library, is pleased to announce the selection of Aron Ryan as Elgin’s Poet Laureate 2024. Aron assumes his laureate duties January 1.

The recipient of Elgin Community College’s Creative Writing Scholarship, Aron has earned his Associates Degree. He has been writing poetry since he was a young child.

Aron’s poetry has been published in literary journals, including Spire, MiddleWestern Voice, Oberon Poetry magazine and DASH. In addition, his poetry can be found on the Elgin Poet Laureate website.

Aron is a Gail Borden Library employee where he mentors young writers. In addition, he has helped edit the literary journals at Elgin Community College and Elmhurst College.

Aron is in the process of earning a master’s degree in Library and Information Science.

There is no doubt that 2024 will be a busy year for Aron. A reception for Aron will be held at the Gail Borden Library in the spring.
