‘Bat Watch’ Coming To Kane County Forest Preserves

The programs will be held in August at LeRoy Oakes and Hampshire forest preserves.

From Kane Forest: If you’re an insectivorous bat, or someone who is interested in them, the fun begins at dusk. Join naturalists from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County for “Bat Watch” nature programs. We’ll look for bats using a special “bat detector.” The device uses echolocation to identify a bat’s location by their reflected sounds. We’ll also play games and learn about bat ecology during these fun, all-ages programs. “Bat Watch” programs are scheduled Saturday, Aug. 4, at Hampshire Forest Preserve, 44W880 Allen Rd., Hampshire, and Tuesday, Aug. 7, at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles. Each program is from 7:45-8:45 p.m. Advance registration is required for these free programs. Call 630-444-3190 or email programs@kaneforest.com to register. For more information, or to see a full roster of Forest Preserve District nature programs, visit www.kaneforest.com or find the District on social media by searching @forestpreserve.
