Carpentersville Man Charged With Possessing Child Porn

The local man could face prison time if convicted on the child porn charges.

CARPENTERSVILLE, IL – A Carpentersville man faces criminal charges for possessing child pornography on his home computer, prosecutors said Tuesday. Kane County prosecutors have charged Alberto Rios, 64, with 10 counts possession of child pornography, a Class 2 felony. Rios, of the 1 to 99 block of Wren Road in Carpentersville, was arrested on Thursday following a search of his home.

Authorities allege that on June 21, 2018, Rios knowingly possessed at least 10 photographs and video reproductions of children younger than age 18 nude or engaged in sexual acts, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

On Friday, Rios bail was set at $25,000. He has since posted 10 percent of his bail ($2,500) and has been released from custody.

If convicted, Rios faces a sentence of probation or a minimum of three years in prison. In addition to the prison term, Ramirez would have to register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act.
