ComEd Work To Close Portion of Fox River Trail
The utility work will get underway on Jan. 21 and continue through March.

SOUTH ELGIN, IL -- The Fox River Trail will see some intermittent closures in the coming weeks as ComEd completes work to power lines and utility poles along the trail, according to a news release from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County. The work, which is scheduled for Jan. 21 through March 1, will be along the Fox River Trail at Tekakwitha and the bridge across the Fox River, leading to Jon Duerr Forest Preserve. Work will also continue along the Fox River Trail in South Elgin, along the bike trail and from the bridge over the Fox to Stearns Road.
The nearest road crossings are Villa Marie Road to the south and Stearns Road to the north, according to the news release.
Forest Preserve District officials are asking trail users to be mindful of the projects, heavy machinery being used, and of the possibility of intermittent trail closures during the time frames indicated. Signs on both ends of the project will alert trail users to each project.
