Coroner Releases Few New Details Into Fatal Metra Crash

A female victim was killed after being struck by a Metra train on the Milwaukee District West line in Roselle Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. on the Metra tracks just east of the Prospect Road crossing in Roselle, according to the DuPage County Coroner’s Office.

The Roselle police and fire departments responded to the scene and found the pedestrian who was unresponsive and with multiple traumatic injuries and no apparent sign of life, according to the coroner’s office news release.

The victim was transported to the DuPage County Morgue where an examination was performed Tuesday. The preliminary cause of death is consistent with multiple traumatic injuries as a result of being struck by a Metra train.

Further studies are pending before the cause and manner of death can be concluded.
