ECC to host Oct. 24 manufacturing and technology job fair

ECC will host a hiring event focused on jobs in manufacturing and technology on Thursday, Oct. 24 in Building O, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Elgin Community College will host a hiring event focused on jobs in manufacturing and technology on Thursday, Oct. 24 in Building O, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

Due to the success of last year's dual sessions, the fair will again host separate daytime and evening sessions to offer better convenience to job seekers. The fair, which is free and open to the public, will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and then again from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. the same evening.

More than 30 employers will be in attendance looking to hire for maintenance technology, industrial manufacturing, computer integrated manufacturing, commercial driving, energy management, HVACR, computer-aided design (CAD), engineering, and welding positions. Representatives will be on-site to meet job seekers, offer information about their company and available positions, and to answer questions.

Attendees can also learn more about ECC’s programs that lead to securing better paying positions in high-demand fields, such as the new Supply Chain Management program.

“The local area has a high demand for workers in supply chain management, specifically the transportation/logistics and warehousing sectors.” says Ranae Ziwiski, supply chain instructional coordinator. “The skills required are slowly increasing, and the ability to earn a comfortable wage without a bachelor’s degree is possible.”

Supply Chain is positioned to be one of the area’s career growth opportunities. Ziwiski emphasized that Elgin’s proximity to the I-90 corridor and a large concentration of warehousing facilities provides easy access to the growing number of jobs in this field.

Attendees are encouraged to research the full list of participating employers prior to attending the event. It is strongly recommended that attendees bring plenty of resumes to the job fair, dress appropriately, and prepare a list of questions for potential employers.
