Elgin City Council OKs RVs in Driveways

The measure will now be up for a final vote in June.

ELGIN, IL — Elgin residents could soon be allowed to park RVs in their driveways. On Wednesday, the Elgin City Council approved a measure, which has been opposed by city staff and the majority of planning and zoning commission members, to allow RVs under 25 feet long to park in residential driveways in town as part of a pilot program, the Daily Herald reports. The measure will now appear again before the city council for a final vote on June 12.

The test program will be in place through September, with the possibility for the city council to extend it at that point, and RVs cannot be used as a residential space while parked in Elgin driveways, according to the Daily Herald.
