Elgin Man Killed In Campton Hills Crash

CAMPTON HILLS, IL – A 37-year-old Elgin man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Campton Hills Saturday morning. The collision occurred at 6:28 a.m. on Saturday when a 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada heading south on Route 47 left the road, struck a ditch and flipped and rolled over, according to a news release from the Campton Hills Police Department. The driver of the vehicle, Efrain Lara, was thrown from the vehicle.

Lara, who lived on Mulberry Lane in Elgin, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Elgin. Lara was pronounced dead less than an hour later, authorities said.

It does not appear that alcohol contributed to the crash.
