Coroner IDs Elgin Man Killed While Crossing Larkin Avenue

The 44-year-old Elgin man was hit by a car while crossing the roadway Saturday night.

ELGIN, IL – The Kane County Coroner has identified a 44-year-old Elgin man who was killed after being struck by a car while crossing Larkin Avenue in Elgin Saturday night as Edward Milosz. Milosz died from multiple injuries, according to preliminary autopsy results released by the coroner’s office.

An investigation into the crash shows a Toyota Rav 4 was heading west on Larkin Avenue when it hit the Elgin man who was walking in the westbound lane on Larkin Avenue, according to a post on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page. The collision occurred at about 9:32 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Larkin Avenue–just two days after a 13-year-old Elgin girl was killed after being hit by a truck while crossing Randall Road.

Milosz was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital where he died.

The driver of the Toyota, an 18-year-old Elgin man, was not injured, according to police.

No citations have been issued and the cause of the crash remains under the investigation. The collision closed down Larkin Avenue between Maple and Second streets for three hours.
