Man Accused of Hiding Camera in Bathroom at Elgin Business
A female employee at a business in Elgin found the camera and reported it to police this past week, authorities said.

ELGIN, IL -- A 33-year-old man is accused of planting a hidden camera in the women's bathroom of a business in Elgin, police said. Jose Garcia, of the 100 block of South Chapel Street in Elgin, has been charged with unauthorized video recording/transmission, a class 4 felony, following his arrest Tuesday. An investigation was launched Monday night after officers responded to a business in the 200 block of Galvin Drive in Elgin for a report of a hidden camera that had been located by a female employee in the bathroom, according to a statement by the Elgin Police Department.
Detectives investigating the case identified Garcia as the man responsible for planting the camera, police said. He was arrested Tuesday and transported to the Elgin Police Department without incident.

Garcia appeared for a bond hearing Wednesday in Kane County and has been released on his own recognizance pending an initial court appearance, police said.
