Kaptain Wins Third Term as Elgin's Mayor

ELGIN, IL —Incumbent Dave Kaptain has won his third term as mayor of Elgin, according to unofficial results. With 70 of 74 precincts reporting as of noon on Wednesday, Kaptain lead over challenger Carol Raushenberger with 65.8 percent of the vote total, according to unofficial results posted on the Chicago Tribune. With ballots still being counted, Kaptain brought in 3,979 of residents' votes while Rauschenberger brought in 2,064 votes.

Voters headed to the polls Tuesday to pick Elgin's next mayor and city council members. Seven candidates sought a four-year term on the Elgin City Council, with four open seats available, and three candidates vied for one open seat for a two-year term on the city council.
