Elgin Overturns 45-Year Ice Truck Ban

Ice cream trucks and ice cream carts will now be allowed in Elgin from April through October.

ELGIN, IL – After a 45-year ban, the Elgin City Council on Wednesday voted to amend the city's code to allow ice cream carts and ice cream trucks from April through October, the Daily Herald reports. The decision came after an ice cream truck owner and Elgin resident approached the city, requesting that officials look at overturning the ban. The change does not apply to all food trucks, which are only allowed at special events, according to the Daily Herald.
