Elgin Police Investigate 4 Shootings In 1 Week

ELGIN, IL — The Elgin Police Department has had a busy week after responding to three separate reports of shots fired in recent days and a drive-by shooting near an Elgin elementary school on Tuesday, which resulted in charges for two and injuries for a teen girl.

The most recent incident occurred in the 1000 block of North Randall Road Saturday. Police said two vehicles were in a parking lot in the area of the shooting and then fled. Police found evidence of a shooting but no injuries have been reported, according to authorities.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man was shot in the Friday afternoon incident in the 500 block of Levine Court, according to information posted on the Elgin Police Department. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that appeared serious but weren't life-threatening. Everyone involved in that shooting has been identified and there is "no threat to the community," police said.

Police also reported police activity in the 900 block of Marlene Avenue just before 5 p.m. Friday.

No injuries were reported in that incident.

The shooting incidents come days after two juveniles were arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting near Lowrie Elementary School, which happened Tuesday afternoon, according to authorities. A 14-year-old girl shot in the incident was hospitalized and remained in the hospital as of late last week in stable condition.
