Elgin Police Investigate Child Luring Incident
A boy was approached by a man driving an SUV. The man allegedly tried to coax the boy into his vehicle.
ELGIN, IL -- The Elgin Police Department is investigating a report of a child who was approached while biking in town this past week. The Elgin Police Department received a report of a driver who pulled his black SUV with heavily tinted windows up to a boy who was riding his bike in the 0 to 100 block of South Porter Avenue at about 1 p.m. on June 18, according to a post on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page. Authorities said the vehicle may have been a Jeep.
The driver, who was described as a Hispanic man in his 30s who spoke Spanish, allegedly tried to coax the child into his vehicle but the boy did not get in, police said.
The vehicle was last seen traveling south on South Porter Avenue.
