Elgin Police Offer Free Active Shooter Training

ELGIN, IL — The Elgin Police Department is offering citizens a chance to learn what to do in an active shooter situation. There are two sessions available, according to the police department's Facebook page.

Police are offering free training at the ALICE Training Institute, which specializes in training civilians to deal with active shooter situations. ALICE stands for alert, lockdown, inform, counter, evacuate.

The ALICE Training Institute website says they offer training for police and law enforcement, K-12 schools, healthcare, higher education and more.

There are two session times available on April 28. One runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and the next from 1 to 4 p.m.
