Elgin Police Spread Holiday Joy To Children With Disabilities
The Elgin Police Department hosted a holiday party for children and young adults at the Marklund Wasmond Center.

ELGIN, IL - Christmas may be just two days away, but for some children and young adults at Marklund Wasmond Center, it has come a little early.
On Monday, officers with the Elgin Police Department organized a fun holiday party for residents at the therapeutic facility. The event included presents and yummy treats. Ol' Saint Nick himself even made an appearance.
"Officers, including Colt the police dog, and his owner/handler Officer Chad Schuttrow, and their families, brought gifts, food, and the big guy-Santa!" the facility wrote on its official Facebook page.

According to the assisted living facility, those in attendance assisted residents with opening gifts while spreading some holiday spirit.
"Thank you to Marklund at Little Angels for allowing us to continue our giving tradition with your residents and their families this past weekend," the Elgin Police Department wrote on its official Facebook page. "Officer Essick does a great job coordinating this annual event and we thank all of our employees and volunteers who assist with making this happen. The smiles are awesome and leave a lasting impact on everyone!"

This is the seventh year in a row that the Elgin Police Department has hosted the party at the facility.
The Marklund Wasmond Center is a residential and therapeutic facility for children and young adults with severe disabilities and complex medical needs.
