Empty Wine Bottles In Car In DUI Crash That Injured Girl, 8
The girl's mom is now charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

ELGIN, IL – A 34-year-old is being held at the Kane County Jail on a $87,500 bail after authorities arrested her on DUI charges Friday. Police said Brittney A. Godenschwager, 34, of the 200 block of South Genoa Road, was driving west on Bowes Road at about 9:30 p.m. when her 2008 Honda Civic went off the road and hit a grass embankment near the intersection of Muirhead Road in Plato Township, according to the Daily Herald. A sheriff's deputy first at the scene noticed Godenschwager smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot and glassy eyes and that her speech was slurred and also found three empty wine bottles in her car.
Her daughter, 8, was also in the car and the girl and her mother were taken to the hospital following the one-vehicle collision, the Daily Herald reports.
Godenschwager now faces six felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence, according to online court records. She remained in custody at the Kane County Jail Wednesday morning on a $87,500 bail. She is next expected in court on Friday.
