Open September 19–November 1Enter the gates of Duchess Manor, an immersive haunted house experience at The Arboretum of South Barrington. Hidden within the manor’s decaying rooms is the chilling story of the mysterious Duchess, whose isolation slowly drove her into madness.
Duchess Manor offers two ways to experience the haunting:
LIGHTS ON WALKTHROUGHS Saturdays and Sundays, 2–5 PM
Designed with younger visitors and families in mind, Lights On Walkthroughs allow guests to explore the manor with the lights on and no live scare actors. Kids can take in the detailed rooms, spooky decorations and eerie surprises at a gentler pace.
FULL SCARE Fridays and Saturdays, 7–11 PM Sundays, 6–10 PM
When darkness falls, Duchess Manor comes alive. Brave guests will encounter live scare actors, chilling scenes and unexpected frights as they journey through the Duchess’s secret estate.
Duchess Manor is open September 19 through November 1 at The Arboretum of South Barrington. Tickets are available online or in person.

ALMAS and North Central College invite students, families, educators, and community leaders to an evening of dialogue, reflection, and empowerment focused on the lived experiences of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) youth navigating discrimination in educational spaces. The event features an interactive panel discussion with BIPOC youth — including first-generation high school and college students — sharing personal stories alongside mental health professionals offering clinical insight. A community resource fair runs alongside the panel, connecting attendees with local youth-serving and mental health organizations, plus entertainment, interactive activities, and complimentary food.

Native American artistry and Old West history take center stage in this Classic Collectibles Auction, led by a majestic pair of 6-foot hand-carved Frank Gallagher Cigar Store Indians (Lots 3 and 3a), an early gesso-over-wood advertising figure (Lot 2a), and two historic 1844 London Edition George Catlin lithographs (Lot 2348). The collection features an extraordinary range of Plains weaponry, beadwork, and ceremonial art, including a Northern Plains bear effigy catlinite pipe bowl (Lot 2335), an 1880s tacked leather belt with knife and sheath (Lot 2314), and an 1820s cast iron trade tomahawk (Lot 2317).
