Herstory: Women of Elgin to be presented at Club 120 in Elgin

Presentation celebrates historic Elgin women

To kick off March Women’s History Month, Club 120 offers a free presentation of “Herstory: Women of Elgin” to be featured by Linda Rock of the Elgin History Museum at the historic Atrium at Oak Crest, 204. St. State St. (Rte. 31) in Elgin on Thursday, February 27 at 4:00pm.

Rock will bring to life a variety of noted Elgin women from the past highlighting Laura Raymond Gifford; Alice Byrd Potter; and Mary Carpenter Lord - who with her husband George, founded Oak Crest in 1904.

Historian and collector Rock specializes in Elgin history from a woman’s point of view. Her popular presentation provide interactive and history programs that feature a long list of amazing Elgin women.

Club 120, located in the Atrium at Oak Crest, is the newly established gathering place which welcomes community members of all ages to connect and socialize, meet new friends, and enjoy a variety of its weekly presentations, special events and luncheons.

Club 120 will offer programs in a variety of topics on Tuesday at 10:00am; Wednesdays at 1:00pm; and Thursdays with Club 120's version of a social hour at 4:00pm/5:00pm. There is no membership fee and costs for events, unless otherwise designated for speaker costs.
