Interim Police Chief In Elgin Gets New Job

The announcement comes shortly after Bill Wolf took over following Chief Jeff Swoboda's departure.

ELGIN, IL – Bill Wolf took over as Elgin's interim police chief over the weekend but could soon be moving on, the Daily Herald reports. Rick Kozal, the city manager for Elgin, informed Elgin City Council members via e-mail that Wolf has provisionally accepted an offer as deputy chief in Schaumburg. Wolf, a 26-year veteran at the Elgin Police Department, took over as the interim chief after Chief Jeff Swoboda left for a new job in Colorado.

"Schaumburg's recruitment for that position is with the recognition that the deputy chief will transition to the chief of police when the incumbent, Jim Lamkin, soon retires," the email stated.

Now, many are unsure who will take over as the top cop in Elgin, according to the Daily Herald.
