Kane Co. Roadside Safety Check: 12 Arrested or Cited

The Roadside Safety Check was completed between late on Oct. 4 and early on Oct. 5.

ELGIN, IL — The results are in from a recent roadside safety check in Kane County. A roadside safety check was conducted from late on Oct. 4 through the early morning hours of Oct. 5 at Route 31 south of Middle Road in Elgin, according to a news release from the Illinois State Patrol.

Local authorities made the following arrests and/or issued the following citations:

  • Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Citations: 0
  • Other alcohol/drug citations-Occupant restraint offenses: 2
  • Registration offenses: 3
  • Driver's license offenses: 6
  • Insurance violations: 5

In all, police handed citations to or arrested 12 people during the enforcement efforts. They also issued three written warnings, according to the news release.

Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to alcohol-impaired driving. RSCs are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road. This project was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation, according to a news release.
