Man Charged In Elgin Shooting

Three victims were shot in the city on Sunday, Elgin police said.

ELGIN, IL — An Elgin man faces multiple charges after three men were wounded in a shooting in the city on Sunday, police said. The victims were shot in the 100 block of Cherry Street around 4:06 a.m., according to Elgin police.

The victims, ages 35, 50 and 56, suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Officers found a suspect's vehicle, and took a man into custody, police said. Another suspect remains at large.

Luis Mora-Otero, 22, of the 300 block of S. Weston Ave., has been charged with four counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, two counts of resisting or obstructing a police officer causing injury and two counts of fleeing and eluding.

Mora-Otero appeared in Kane County bond call Tuesday, where his bond was set at $2 million.

“We thank the witnesses for providing information that helped us quickly identify the offending vehicle which led to the arrest of Mr. Mora-Otero,” said Deputy Chief Young. “Our detectives continue to actively investigate all aspects of this case.”
