Man Critically Injured In Stabbing At Home Near Elgin
A 18-year-old Elgin man is in custody in connection with the stabbing.

KANE COUNTY, IL— A teen faces charges for stabbing a man he got into a fight with Monday, critically injuring the 46-year-old, police said. Byron M. Shavers-Williams, 18, is accused of stabbing the 46-year-old man, who he knew, multiple times with a folding knife, according to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office. The man was at a friend’s home when Shavers-Williams came to the home in the 41W400 block of Lenz Road in unincorporated Elgin, where he also lived, and attacked the man.
Police said Shavers-Williams and the man had gotten into an altercation prior to the attack, which happened about 1:30 p.m. Monday, according to a news release.
The man who was stabbed was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin where he was listed in critical condition with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Shavers-Williams was taken into custody at the home following the attack.
He has been charged with armed violence, a Class X felony; aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, a Class 3 felony; and aggravated battery great bodily harm, a Class 3 felony.
