KANE COUNTY, IL — An 82-year-old man died after his car crashed into a utility pole on Plato Road in unincorporated Burlington Township Nov. 5, officials from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
Deputies arrived at the intersection of Plato Road and Burlington Road around 6 p.m. for a report of a crash. They found that George Vallejo, a resident of Algonquin, was driving a GMC Envoy west on Plato Road when, for reasons unknown, his car veered off the road, hit a utility pole and rolled over, officials said.
Vallejo, who was the only person in the car, was taken to an Elgin area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
