Pianists sought for 25th anniversary of American Grands concert

​Pianists of all levels are invited to apply to perform in Elgin Community College Arts Center's American Grands 25.

Pianists of all levels are invited to apply to perform in Elgin Community College Arts Center’s American Grands 25. The event will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 at Elgin Community College in Building H, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin, IL.

Billed as the piano event of the year, American Grands features almost 500 performers of all talent levels and age groups from throughout the area. The event features an orchestra of pianists—24 play on each musical piece—performing on 12 grand pianos. The pianos are provided by Cordogan’s Pianoland in Geneva, the event’s sponsor since its inception. Larry Dieffenbach returns as music director and Colin Holman returns as conductor.

Applications will be accepted at elgin.edu/americangrands through Sunday, Sept. 22. Performers are required to attend three rehearsals and may be required to perform in two of the three concerts. The concerts will be held at 1 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. There is a $25 per performer participation fee.
