Police Search For Armed Bank Robber

The armed robbery occurred Wednesday afternoon, police said.

ELGIN, IL -- Authorities are searching for an armed man who allegedly held up a bank in Elgin Wednesday afternoon, police said. The bank robbery occurred at 2:19 p.m. at a Chase Bank in the 500 block of Shady Oaks Drive. The bank robber fired one shot outside of the bank, according to a post on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page.

No one was injured, police said. The robber left on foot and is described as a possibly white man with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, dark-colored sweatpants and shoes of an unknown color.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
