Rep. Ugaste, Sen. DeWitte to Host Free Shred Event & Food Drive in Elgin

The event will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the Gail Borden Public Library District – Rakow Branch, located at 2751 W. Bowes Rd., Elgin.

State Representative Dan Ugaste (R-Geneva) and State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) are hosting a free shred event and food drive for constituents on Saturday, September 12. The event will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the Gail Borden Public Library District – Rakow Branch, located at 2751 W. Bowes Rd., Elgin.

Residents will be able to bring their sensitive documents for safe shredding, and the event will also serve as a food drive for Food for Greater Elgin. Please bring only unexpired and non-perishable food items. No electronics will be accepted for recycling or disposal. Please note that the event is scheduled to conclude at 11 a.m., or once the shred truck hits capacity.

“I hope residents are able to take advantage of this opportunity to safely and securely dispose of their sensitive documents,” stated Rep. Ugaste. “In addition, please consider donating non-perishable food items to help our neighbors in need and stock the shelves for Food for Greater Elgin.”

Participants are asked to follow traffic signs and remain in their vehicles. Staff will unload items for shredding. Parking will be available for those who wish to see their documents fed into the shredder.
