Results From Elgin Roadside Safety Check
The roadside safety checks were held over the weekend in Elgin.

ELGIN, IL -- Several arrests were made and citations handed out during a recent roadside safety check in Elgin. The safety checks were held late on Sept. 14 into the early morning hours of Sept. 15 at Route 31 south of Middle Road in Elgin.
The following citations and/or arrests were made during the roadside safety check:
- Other alcohol or drug citations: 6
- Registration offenses: 2
- Driver’s license offenses: 5
- Insurance violations: 8
- Total citations/arrests: 19
- Total written warnings: 4
Alcohol and drug impairment is a factor in more than 30 percent of all fatal motor vehicle crashes in Illinois, and throughout the U.S., nearly 10,000 people die each year due to alcohol-impaired driving. RSCs are designed to keep our roads safe by taking dangerous DUI offenders off the road, according to Illinois State Police.
