Dangerously Cold Friday Before Temps Hit 40s For The Weekend In IL
Wind chills on Thursday night into Friday morning could be 20 below zero.
ILLINOIS β Before we get some warming temperatures this weekend, we have to get through a "bitterly cold" Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The weather service has issued a wind chill advisory in preparation for the cold temps on Friday. The advisory is in effect from 11 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday for all the Chicago area.
The weather service said wind chills as low as 20 below zero are expected. Frostbite could occur in as little as 30 minutes.

The cold is due to an arctic front, which is moving into the area on Thursday night and Friday, according to the weather service Twitter page. The high for Friday is 16 degrees, but temperatures will begin to rise overnight on Friday to Saturday.
Saturday has a high of 38 degrees, and Sunday will be even warmer with a high of 46 degrees, according to the weather service.

AccuWeather said Sunday will have "some sun, then turning cloudy; breezy in the afternoon." The private forecaster gave a high of 42 degrees, and said wind gusts could be at 17 mph.
Both days will be partly cloudy, and no precipitation is expected, according to the weather service.
The above average temperatures are expected to last through next week, with expected highs of 44 on Monday, 43 on Tuesday and 42 on Wednesday, according to the weather service forecast.
