Several Pets Saved From Elgin House Fire: Fire Officials
The blaze broke out Saturday afternoon in the 800 block of Buckeye.

ELGIN, IL – Several pets were saved from a house fire in Elgin Saturday afternoon, fire officials said. The Elgin Fire Department was called to the blaze in the 800 block of Buckeye Street at 12:01 p.m., according to a news release from the fire department. Smoke was spotted coming from the roof vents and neighbors told firefighters no one was home at the time.
Firefighters were also informed there were pets in the home and began quickly searching for the animals. Several pets were successfully removed from the home and treated at the scene with oxygen, according to the news release.
The fire was extinguished in under five minutes.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. One family was displaced due to smoke and fire damage, according to fire officials.
