Best Places To Trick-Or-Treat: Elgin Ranks In Top 10
Factors like safety and weather make some places, like Elgin, more trick-or-treater friendly than others.
ELGIN, IL – A new study ranks Elgin as the eighth best city in the country for trick-or-treating in 2019.
The study, which was conducted by SmartAsset, compared more than 256 cities throughout the United States.
When crunching the numbers, the study considered a variety of metrics including average home
value, crime rate, the weather and the percentage of residents younger than age 15.

According to the study, Elgin has the sixth-lowest rate of property crime in the study — around 1,400 incidents per 100,000 residents. It ranks 29th overall for its relatively low violent crime rate, at approximately 199 incidents per 100,000 residents. The average home value is $196,300, a figure that puts it in the more affordable half of all 256 cities in this study for this metric.
Orem, Utah took the number one sport as the best city in the country for trick-or-treating. For the second year in a row, the city has found itself in the study's top ten list.

Two other Illinois cities rounded out the top 25. Those cities are Aurora, which came in fourth place, and Joliet, which came in eleventh.
