Teen Arrested For Shooting Threat At Larkin High

Detectives in Elgin worked through the night to investigate the shooting. Authorities said the shooting was allegedly planned for today.

ELGIN, IL – A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with the threat of a shooting at Larkin High School. The alleged shooting was supposed to occur on Tuesday, authorities learned, and detectives worked through the night to investigate the threat, according to a post on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page.

Their investigation lead them to the 15-year-old who was ultimately arrested. He is being held at the Kane County Youth Home and is slated to appear for a detention hearing Tuesday, police said.

Authorities said the teen did not have access to any guns.

"We are glad that the community provided the information to authorities and ask parents to remind their children the seriousness of these types of threats," Chief Jeffrey Swoboda said. "We will investigate and charge."
