Authorities ID Teen Killed In Randall Road Crash
The collision occurred at the intersection of Randall and Hopps roads Sunday afternoon.

ELGIN, IL – The 18-year-old Elgin woman killed Sunday afternoon after her car collided with a semi truck along Randall Road has been identified as Consuelo Pina, Kane County Coroner Derick Hayden said in a statement Monday. The collision occurred when the teen, who was heading south in a car on Randall Road, was turning onto Hopps Road and was hit by a semi truck that was northbound on Randall, according to a post on the Elgin Police Department Facebook page. The teen's car was turning onto eastbound Hopps Road at the time of the collision, which occurred at about 2:02 p.m.
Pina died from multiple injuries, authorities said. Toxicology samples were collected at the time of the autopsy and sent to a forensic lab. The driver of the semi truck was a 57-year-old Wheeling resident, according to the Facebook post.
The intersection of Hopps and Randall roads was closed for over six hours following the crash.

Meanwhile, area residents have taken to the Elgin Police Department's Facebook page to voice their concerns over the intersection of Hopps and Randall roads, which residents say is far too dangerous and the site of many collisions. They issue, some commenting on Facebook said, lies behind the signal choices at the intersection.
