Join fellow community members for interesting and educational events.

Club 120 at the Atrium at Oak Crest in Elgin is off and running with success. Community members are invited to attend this week's variety of free events.

• Tuesday, January 14th at 10a.m. - Tech Talk.
This is an hour long recorded video with host, Jim and Chris Guld, The Geeks on Tour. Follow us and learn as we continue our 40 year careers in technology training and support. Coming from the computer world in the 80’s and 90’s, in 2000 they packed up, traveled the country, presenting seminars at RV rallies and teaching technology. This is when Jim and Chris became known as the Geeks on Tour. Now, they are completely viral.

• Wednesday, January 15th at 1pm - Chair Yoga.
Theresa Burke with Traditions Health will work with us every two weeks. Chair yoga is a promising form of exercise for older adults. It may help people with certain health conditions, such as arthritis, to exercise without putting pressure on joints. It may also reduce the fear of falling, and help people who are not used to exercise to begin improving their strength and balance.

• Thursday, January 16th at 4pm - Living with Alzheimers.
Presented by Terri Montgomery, she will share that living with Alzheimer's is a constant, ever-evolving challenge, and the many misconceptions about the disease only add to the stigma and social disconnect. Montgomery had a 38-year career in public relations, human services, accounting, project management, sales, and customer service. Her proudest accomplishment was achieved as an woman entrepreneur where she had an established business in financial services and client roster whom she served over many years despite the growing competitive landscape. Since leaving the workforce in 2015 after being diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s at the age of 58, Terrie has kept herself active and productive by volunteering as a dementia advocate, speaker and writer. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Human Resource Management, Judson University, Elgin, IL. Her personal motto? "If you believe you can, you might. If you know you can, you will."
