Woman Gets More Prison for Stealing Car From Gym Parking Lot
Nicole Crook was sentenced to six years in prison this past week.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL — A 31-year-old Arlington Heights woman pleaded guilty this past week to stealing a Mercedes from a South Elgin fitness center parking lot, which means she will soon be headed back to prison after being free for only two months, the Daily Herald reports. Nicole Crook, of the 1600 block of East Central Road, was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to one count of possession of a stolen motor vehicle. As part of a plea deal, charges of driving with a suspended license after her fourth DUI and operating an uninsured motor vehicle were dropped.
Crook, was released on parole on April 5 after serving five years for aggravated DUI, driving with a revoked license in Winnebago County and attempting to bring ammunition into a penal institution, the newspaper reports.
On April 18, Lisle Deputy Police Chief Ron Wilke said the owner of a 2016 Mercedes C300 reported her car stolen from the parking lot, and added that police believe Crook took the keys out of the victim's jacket, which was hanging in the fitness center's locker room. The car was found a short time later, with Crook sitting in the driver’s seat, after authorities used the vehicle’s internal GPS to locate it, the Daily Herald reports.
