1,500 Show Up For Elmhurst Anti-Trump Protest: Organizers

They called for abolishing ICE and protecting democracy, among other things.

ELMHURST, IL – Organizers of Elmhurst's No Kings rally, which took place Saturday afternoon, say their event attracted more than 1,500 people.

Protests took place across the country that day, with more than 8 million people estimated to have attended.

Locally, organizers said they had about 250 people signed up to participate in the rally near City Hall. But by the start time at 1:30 p.m., it appeared far more would be on hand.

Protesters called for abolishing ICE, defending democracy, protecting programs such as Medicare and Medicaid, and ending the Iran war.

Organizers called the demonstration peaceful.

For more than a year, Protectors of Democracy and Progressives for Change in Elmhurst have organized rallies every Saturday against the Trump administration.
