132-MPH Chase Ends In Elmhurst: Police

The suspect crashed his car in town and ran away, caught nearly two miles away, authorities said.

VILLA PARK, IL – A chase that reached speeds of 132 mph ended earlier this week when the suspect crashed into a parked car in Elmhurst, authorities said.

The suspect was a 17-year-old boy from Maywood, police said.

About 1 a.m. Wednesday, Villa Park officers tried to stop the boy, who was driving a 2013 Hyundai Genesis that was stolen in Chicago, according to a news release from DuPage County prosecutors.

The chase continued to Schaumburg, back to Villa Park and eventually into Elmhurst, police said.

The boy's car crashed into a parked car in the 500 block of Vallette Street in Elmhurst, police said. The boy ran away, but was caught in the 600 block of Cedar Drive in Elmhurst, nearly two miles away, police said.

"The outrageous actions alleged against the defendant not only put the motoring public as well as the officers involved at great risk, but also caused damage to another person’s vehicle," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release.

The boy was charged with a count of possession of a stolen vehicle and two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer, all felonies.
