ELMHURST, IL – Three students will get expensive parking spots next school year at York High School, thanks to a charity fundraiser.

Elmhurst School District 205 reserved four parking spots for Foundation 205 to auction or raffle off.

Late last month, three of the spots were featured in an online fundraiser. Each generated $15,000, for a total of $45,000. The bidders were not identified.

The foundation said it raffled off the fourth spot, generating $11,000. In all, the foundation pulled in $56,000.

The auction labels the spots "Rockstar Parking."

A quarter of the proceeds will go directly to York High, said Kate Knicker, the foundation's executive director.

"The amount we have earned from them has varied year to year," Knicker said in an email to Patch on Thursday. "This year, it was $56,000 total, which is less than in 2022."

The reserved spots must be for juniors or seniors, and each spot must be registered to one family and its cars, according to the online fundraiser.

Since 1989, donations to the foundation have resulted in more than $3.5 million in educational enhancements for the local district, the group's website said.

"We flood our schools with innovative resources to ensure engaged learning at all levels across the district," the site said.
