2 Attempted Ruse Burglaries On Burr Ridge Street: Police
Suspects try to enter by claiming residents have water problems, reports say.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Two attempted ruse burglaries have happened on Burr Ridge's Kenmare Drive, which is near Plainfield and County Line roads. In both cases, the suspects told residents they were having water problems.
The first one happened the afternoon of Aug. 3. Two suspects in a black pickup truck attempted to enter an occupied house in the 400 block of Kenmare by saying they were checking on a "water emergency," police said. They were not allowed in.
The second time was in the early evening of Aug. 14. A man came to the door telling the resident that his water was contaminated and needed to be tested, according to a police report. The resident told the man he would call police if he did not produce identification. The man left in a dark SUV with three other people, police said.
